TO MY PRECIOUS WIFE:
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU. Page 3
A story of love, happiness, tragedy,
and death.
THE BEGINNING FOR WAYLAND MAYO:
I was born in New Bern, North Carolina, in 1929. My family
owned the Maola Ice Cream business in New Bern and Washington,
N.C. They also owned the Coca – Cola Bottling Co. in
Washington, both very lucrative businesses. My Grandfather
started both companies which were recognized throughout the
state. My Father ran the Ice Cream Company in New Bern. When
he mismanaged the company, my Grandfather sold both companies.
When he died my Father inherited the Coca-Cola Co, and proceeded
to mismanage it also. He was sick, under Doctor’s care,
and was incapable of making proper decisions. He sold the
Coca-Cola Co. Two outstanding Companies just given away. This
complete story would be unacceptably long, I hate to not tell
the whole story. My Grandfather left me valuable stocks, and
part of the Coca-Cola franchise. I could have been set for
the rest of my life. I sold it all and blew the money, a dumb
mistake I am still paying for. Actually it was an act of ignorance
that I never lived down.
